A month full of running, organizing, and having fun!🍁

✋Hi everyone! Nice to meet you/see you again! My name is Rachel and I am a 15 y/o interested in quantum computing, renewable energy, future of food and all new tech. I love running and being outside, and I never say no to a challenge.

Where the heck did October go? Like seriously. It was September, and now-BOOM-it’s almost November. I just don’t get it…
This month flew by crazy quick, and I started so many new things, and had so much fun!
Articles I wrote✏️
Blockchain: the Bare Bones

Is light a wave or a particle?

A Programming Language For Bacteria
And a video I made about how computers actually work👇
UpRiver Running 25km Trail Race🏃♀️
This race kicked my ass. It was incredible and so beautiful (running beside a long river, up and down hills, through the forest with rocks and fall leaves). But it was hard. All these ups and downs, rocks and roots and difficult terrain made my time a lot slower. Despite this, I ended up placing 7th out of 98 runners, and was the 3rd placing female!!! (My personal best time for the trails).
I’m so happy that I signed up for this race, and spent hours training in the forest. Now when I run on the road, I really notice how loud and unpleasant it is! Trail running has become my new favorite thing, and now runners are asking ME for directions on the trails instead of the other way around.
Half Marathon Relay-Race🏃♀️🏃♀️
Near the end of October my sister and I ran a relay-race half marathon (on the trails of course). I was supposed to run the first 14km, and then my sister run the last 7km, but I rolled my ankle and couldn’t finish. Grace was smoking it though. So proud of you Grace!
TechnoGypsie Podcast🎙
This month Ciara Sejour and I started a STEM podcast called the TechnoGypsie Podcast. So this month was full of planning, reaching out to people, researching really cool professionals, recording conversations, editing and publishing.
A big thank you to Meryam Al-Waadh, the guest on our first episode (all about artificial intelligence!)
NextGen Authors Webinar📚
This last Saturday Chandhana, Nithi, Sreeram, Maariya, Jules, Zaydan, Molly, and I put together the first ever NextGen Authors Webinar. It was such a blast to organize, and everything turned out so great. A big thank you goes out to our 3 bestselling authors who spoke and answered questions: Tania Katan, Matthew Dicks and Rahul Rana, and our 3 TKS authors Chandhana Sathishkumar, Nithi Byreddy and Anand Majmudar.
I learned so much from not only putting on this webinar, but also from listening to the authors speak about their journey!
Events I attended🎧
So thankful that I was chosen to attend the Women Of Influence conference of 2021. I scored a couple meetings with inspiring women entrepreneurs, and gained some incredible insights about starting a business. (Thanks so much for the opportunity Ian and Damian, my amazing directors!)
What’s next?🔥
Start my learn article for my focus in the future of the food sector; gene editing for agriculture!
Start the replicate project for my focus.
Start playing violin in the Thunder Bay Symphony Youth Orchestra again!🎻
Create a website for the TechnoGypsie Podcast
Have 50 braindates
Hopefully start skiing if there is snow!❄️
